Our Physical Education Ambition
PE lessons at Eldersfield Lawn School are fun, vibrant and inclusive. Children learn and develop both the techniques and tactics they need to enjoy and excel at a wide range of sports and physical activity as well as the importance of having a healthy lifestyle. Through PE, our children enhance transferable skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership which helps them to succeed beyond their PE lessons. While our curriculum builds upon sports, which the children are familiar with, such as rugby, netball and cricket, all delivered by professional coaches, It also develops their sporting cultural capital by ensuring they experience and appreciate a wide range of activities such as bell boating, lacrosse and musical dance. The children also enjoy a wealth of outdoor and adventurous activities both at school, at our local water park and when away on residential holidays in Malvern, Devon and Shropshire.
Our school running track allows children and adults at Eldersfield Lawn come together to enjoy running or walking a mile during PE lessons and playtimes. This not only helps to improve our cardiovascular fitness and stamina but also develops children’s concentration and resilience in a fun and active way. At Eldersfield Lawn we see children enjoying and learning from competitive sport as being both a key aspect of our PE curriculum and an ideal opportunity to further challenge all of our children. We are committed to giving them opportunities to participate in both intra and inter school competitions which enables them to uphold the important values of being caring and resilient competitors.
