How are we using the funding and what impact is it having?

Below is an outline of the ways in which our Primary PE and School Sport Funding has been used at Eldersfield Lawn.

  • Specialist P.E. teaching for cricket, rugby, rounders, netball and athletics.
  • A range of subsidised sporting events and competitions for participation with other local schools.
  • P.E. and Sports Annual Partnership work with a local secondary to increase the range of sporting opportunities children take part in and as a way of developing and nurturing P.E. knowledge and application for pupils.
  • Forest School opportunities for children in the Early Years and in Key Stage 1 pupils to increase exercise in addition to class P.E. lessons.
  • CPD for teaching to further enhance PE knowledge through a curriculum development review and to effectively support the development of P.E. as a subject.
  • The introduction to new sporting opportunities for children to take part in, both through local events with other schools and through our extended range of after-school activity clubs. These now include Martial Arts and Dance classes.

Our plans for P.E. and Sports during 2024-2025 included:

1. Improvements and enhancements to the outdoor play areas to engage all children in more daily physical activity.

2. Continuing to provide an extensive range of sporting opportunities which are offered to children through competitive events, extra-curricular and enrichment activities.

3. Reviewing the impact of our whole school P.E. planning and progression to build on pupils' previous skills.

4. Continuing to provide regular and new sports participation with other schools, including opportunities for children in key stage 1.

We are delighted to have successfully achieved all of these planned outcomes for 2024-2025 and have received the 'School Games Gold Award for the wide range of pupil participation in competitive sports in July 2025.
