Newsletter - 16th July

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to everyone for navigating your way successfully through the most challenging time in education for several generations! I have been amazed and encouraged by the extraordinary efforts that you and your children have put into their home learning activities and online lessons. I have been thrilled to see the new, creative and different ways in which you have all responded to this situation. I am fully aware that an enormous amount of hard work has come from your careful management of the home learning and for that we are extremely grateful. I would like to say a huge thank you to the incredible teaching staff who have responded and adapted to new ways of teaching, despite the challenges everyone has been facing in their own lives.

To plan for September, we have had to carefully consider the current guidance, taking into account our levels of staffing and the rooms that we have available to us, produce a comprehensive risk assessment, share with governors and then submit to the local authority.  The local authority will then either approve it or stipulate changes.  It is unlikely that we will receive a response before the end of the academic year, I am hoping to finalise plans by Friday 7th August.  These will be emailed out and published on the school website under the latest news section.

Further information regarding the reopening of schools can be found here,

The current plan is to invite all children in key stage 1 and 2 back on Wednesday 2nd September for two days and then return full time on Monday 7th September.  Reception class will start their induction week on the 7th

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Henry, Edward, Emily and Daisy and all of the children in Year 6, every success and happiness in their new schools. I hope that you all settle in well and remember your time at Eldersfield Lawn CE Primary School with fondness.

A reminder that school will finish after the leaver’s service for Year 6, between 12.15 and 12.30 for Reception class and between 12.30 and 12.45 for Year 1.

Finally I would like to wish you all a wonderful Summer and look forward to seeing you all when we return to school on Wednesday 2nd September.

Kindest regards,

Anthony Dixon-Gough
