Your child will have words, captions, ditties and short sentences added to their red book from time to time; please would you tick these when your child has read them. If they lack confidence in blending then please model how to do this and revisit at a later date.
We are finishing teaching Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds by learning the 'tricky words' I no go the into and practising these in different ways.
Every day your child will bring home a red 'Letters and Sounds at Home' book with the sound they have been introduced to that day added in.
The opportunity to follow up each lesson at home has proved to be successful in building a child's confidence in acquiring the skills they need to become a confident reader.
It is also really helpful to do a quick review of previously taught sounds, so a quick flip through each sound from the beginning will indicate how confident they are.
Mrs Bailey-Smith works hard to get these books marked and ready every day; please make sure you remember to send it in every day!
It is much better for your child to 'keep up' not 'catch up'! Your input is valuable and appreciated!
