In Class 1 our teacher is Mrs Kelsey. She looks after us with Mrs Bailey-Smith. We are the Reception children and this is our foundation year in primary school. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which Mrs Kelsey uses to plan activities to help each of us learn to our full potential. The Curriculum is split into 3 Prime areas and 4 Specific areas.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – self confidence and self-awareness, making relationships, managing feelings and behaviour
Physical Development – moving and handling, health and self-care
Communication and Language – listening, understanding, speaking
Literacy – we use the Read, Write Inc programme for our phonics, reading and writing development.
Mathematical Development – numbers, shape, space and measure
Understanding the World – people and communities, the world, technology
Expressive Arts and Design – exploring media and materials, being imaginative
There are many overlaps in the curriculum and we are learning about all these areas all of the time.
Our classroom is bright and colourful. We often help around the room. We also have a fantastic outside area that we use for our lessons.
